At Manalumkal as part of Kozhuvanal parish there was a primary school which belonged to Kalloorkulam convent. The proper running and protection of  the school it was needed that sisters should stay there.  So the sisters of the Kalloorkulam convent requested the then Provincial Superior Mother Pius to start a convent there and the permission was granted. In 1972 a small building was built and the sisters began to stay there. For the daily Mass they used to go to the nearby St. Aloysius High School chapel and did the chapel works well. Manalumkal community which was a part of the Kalloorkulam community became an independent convent in 1974 with a local superior. Later on Manalumkal became a parish and a parish church was built.
