St. Clare's convent was established in Manjamattam parish in 2005 for a special purpose. There was a Balika Bhavan attached to Manjamattam convent for children who are poor and coming from remote areas to study in the St. Joseph's School. When the number of children increased it became necessary to make another building. The convent was having a plot of land 1 km. away and a building was made for 80 children with the necessary conveniences and the Balika Bhavan was shifted to that building, children upto class X are here. In order to look after the children a few sisters also stayed with them. In the beginning it was under Manjamattam convent, but afterwards it became an independent convent in 2005. Two sisters are teaching in St. Joseph's School. Two sisters take care of the convent and prepare food for the children.
The sisters take classes for children and counseling is done. Also by prayer meetings and adoration the children are spiritually enriched. In connection with Feasts, competitions are connected in arts and sports and winners are given prizes. Once a while picnics are arranged by which they become fresh and energetic.
